We’re all familiar with the process when it is to the Oculus Storefront and its rigorous curation. This ensures that the quality of experiences and games high and stops low-quality apps from slipping through the gaps. This makes it difficult for independent developers to create their VR content on Oculus.

To combat this issue Oculus recently introduced a new program called “App Lab” to give independent developers a place to share their VR content without having to go through the rigorous curation process of the Oculus storefront. The App Lab is similar to the regular Oculus storefront in that you can browse and download apps in the same way you would on a traditional storefront however it’s not curated.

If your app performs well in the App Lab it could be promoted to the Oculus Storefront, where it will gain more exposure and reach a wider audience. This is not based on just download numbers but also retention metrics, long term try this site profitability, the teams working on development as well as other factors.

App Lab is a fantastic way to explore the full spectrum of Oculus Quest applications. There are a variety of fun games and experiences, including popular non-games like Tilt Brush which turns your headset in to an immersive art studio. There are a lot of cool VR media apps, like Quill Theater, which showcases the amazing community-created movies and animations.
